Parlour is screening Qatari-American artist Sophia Al-Maria‘s video work, Scifi Wahabi, at Snake Pit this Wednesday 7th March. Come join us at 6.30pm for a 7 o’clock start at Snake Pit, 33 High St. Popcorn & refreshments will be served.

// Sophia Al-Maria is a regular contributor to Bidoun Magazine where she writes on subjects ranging from Arab satellite television to Ilsa Harem-Keeper of the Oil-Sheiks. She went to university in Cairo for five years where she first became involved in the contemporary art scene there. She then earned a master’s degree in Aural and Visual Cultures from Goldsmiths College where she began her ongoing video project “Scifi Wahabi”. She is usually based in Qatar where she works at the Arab Museum of Modern Art, at the moment she is living in New Zealand until September when she will show her first large scale project at the Gwangju Biennale. //
